Layers, inserts and finishes
Split a sponge into tiers, hide an insert inside the cream, and add glaze, coating and decorations.
The cake planner is on the Plus plan.
Stacking rules
Each layer type has its place:
- Sponge (cake base) — always at the bottom; can be split into tiers,
- Cream / filling — between tiers, never at the bottom; can hold an insert,
- Crisp layer and Jelly / fruit insert — never at the bottom; can be an insert inside a filling,
- Glaze and Coating (sides and top) — these are finishes, worked out from the cake’s surface.
The layer menu
Every layer has a menu (More). In it you’ll find, among others:
- Split into… — splits a sponge into tiers. You set the Number of tiers, Trimmed when levelling (“What you cut off when levelling — you bake that much more.”) and whether to Fill between with cream. Join back undoes the split.
- Insert inside… — a smaller layer inside the cream. You enter the Distance from the edge (cm) and Thickness (cm), and Przepisnik works out “Insert diameter: … cm”.
- Change recipe, Duplicate below, Copy / Paste above / Paste below, Move up / Move down and Remove.
Repeat the pattern repeats the stacked layers when the cake has a repeating layout.
Height and recipe amount
Tap a layer to set it up. Under Keep you choose what stays fixed: height or recipe amount. Przepisnik shows how much of the recipe to bake, e.g. “Bake 1.5 × the recipe”.
Finish
In the Finish section tap Add a finish and pick a glaze or coating recipe. The amount is worked out from the cake’s surface.
Decorations
In the Decorations section choose Add decoration and fill in the Name (e.g. raspberries, candles), Amount, Unit and Notes.
If you tick I make whole recipes in Cake options (⋮ in the header), Przepisnik shows under Left over how much of each layer will be left. You can Use for decoration straight away.
