The pantry and expiry dates

Keep track of what you have at home, and on the Plus plan watch expiry dates and minimum stock.

The Pantry is a list of what you have at home. The shopping list uses it to skip what you already have, and What can I cook? uses it to suggest recipes.

Open the pantry on the phone from More → Pantry, in the browser from the side menu.

Adding items

  • Type an item into the “e.g. Flour 1 kg” box and tap Add. Amount and unit are recognised on their own.
  • Or after shopping: tick items off on the shopping list and choose To the pantry under Export.

Change an amount right in the list. If you don’t know how much you have, leave it with no amount.

Deducting after cooking

When you finish in cooking mode (on the phone), Przepisnik asks Take it out of the pantry?. Tick what you actually used and choose Deduct. Amounts it can’t convert are listed under Check by hand.

Expiry and minimum (Plus)

On the Plus plan each item has an Expiry and minimum button:

  1. Under Best before, pick a date or a shortcut: Today, Tomorrow, In 3 days, In a week, In a month.
  2. Under Minimum, enter how much you always want at home. “When it drops below this, we’ll offer to add it to the shopping list.”
  3. Save.

Items get labels like use soon, expired or running low, and Home shows them in the Today section. In the mobile app you can also turn on the Food to use up reminder (More → Reminders).

On the Free plan the button shows “Available in Przepisnik Plus”.

A shared pantry

On the Family plan the whole household has one pantry. With the Baker+ add-on there’s also a Workshop next to the home pantry — separate, yours alone, for cake stock.
